Customers, lists and forms

Everyone who signs up or buys from you ends up in one table, Customers. Lists group them. Forms collect new sign-ups. All three are tabs under Fans, Mailing.

The Mailing tabs are Customers, Lists, Forms, Settings, Campaigns and Analytics.

The Customers table#

  • Type in the search box to find a name or an email. The Subscribed menu shows everyone, only the subscribed or only the others.
  • Click a column heading to sort. The small filter on a heading narrows the table to certain values.
  • Double-click a row to edit that customer, or to delete them.
  • + Add has Add customer and Import CSV. More has Columns (choose what to show), Bulk tag, Customize fields (rename the three custom fields) and Export.
ColumnIt means
SubA tick means they are subscribed to your emails.
Statusactive, unsubscribed, bounced, complained or cleaned. Only active, subscribed people get a campaign.
SourceWhere they came from: Checkout, Sign-up form, CSV import, Pre-save, Transfer link, Links page or Manual add.
LTRLifetime revenue: what they have spent with you.
D / P / THow many digital, physical and ticket purchases they made.

Add people#

One person: press + Add, then Add customer. Only the email is needed.

  1. Press + Add, then Import CSV, and choose your file.
  2. Match each column of your file to a field. Only Email is required. We guess the matches for you, so check them.
  3. Tick the box only if these people already agreed to get email from you.
  4. Press Import. You see how many were imported, how many were skipped (blank or duplicate) and which rows were invalid.
Leave the consent box empty if you are not sure. The people are then saved as records only and are not emailed. Never import a list you bought or borrowed. See Email, consent and deliverability.

Tags#

A tag is a label on a customer, such as tour or vip. Add tags in a customer's edit window, or in a column called Tags in your CSV file. Use them to choose who gets a campaign.

To tag many people at once, press More, then Bulk tag. Choose who to tag with the filters (when they were added, how much they spent, source, status, subscribed, search, tags they have or do not have). The window counts how many match. Then pick the tags to add or remove.

You are asked to confirm, and a bulk change cannot be undone in one go.

Lists#

A list is a group of subscribers that a campaign can be sent to. Open the Lists tab and press + New list.

  • Give it a Name. A description and a language are optional.
  • Double opt-in: sign-ups must confirm by email before they count as subscribed.
  • In the table, Subscribed counts the people who can get a campaign and Members counts everyone on the list.
  • Import on a row adds a CSV file straight to that list. Import contacts at the top asks which list.
  • Archive hides a list from campaigns and forms. Its members are kept. The default list cannot be archived, because it catches sign-ups that do not choose a list.

You can have up to 20 lists.

Forms#

A form is a page where fans give you their email. You can have up to 3. Open the Forms tab and press Create a form (or + New form if you already have one).

PartWhat you set

Sign-up fieldsEmail is always asked. Switch on First name, Last name, Full name, City, Country or Language.
Extra questionsA free text answer (up to 125 characters), a poll, or checkboxes. Mark a question as required if fans must answer.
  • Press Publish when it is ready, then Copy link and share it. Changes save as you make them.
  • Ask for First name and your campaigns can greet people by name.
  • The Advanced tab has the URL slug (the part after /forms/), a place for your own domain such as signup.yourband.com, and Delete this form.
  • Analytics shows each form's views, visitors, sign-ups and conversion.

Deleting a form stops its link working. The people who signed up stay on their list.
