How we handle your data▾

The short version: we keep your email address so we can send you this newsletter, we look at whether our emails get opened, and we stop the moment you tell us to. The detail, as required by Articles 13 and 14 of the GDPR:

Who is responsible

What we collect

Your email address; your first name if you choose to give it; and, as a record of your consent, the date and time, your IP address, your browser’s user agent and the exact wording of the checkbox you ticked. Nothing else is required.

Why, and on what legal basis

To send you the weekly Our Picks newsletter described above: curated artists, select music business news, and occasional news about Las Aguas itself. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and § 7(2) no. 2 UWG for email advertising). Keeping the consent record itself rests on our legitimate interest and legal obligation to be able to demonstrate that consent (Art. 6(1)(c) and (f), Art. 7(1) GDPR).

Measurement

We record whether a newsletter was opened and which links in it were clicked. If you click through to our site, we connect that visit to your subscription. This tells us which topics are worth writing about. It is ordinary email statistics: no automated decision-making, no profiling with legal effects, no credit-style scoring.

Who else sees it

Our email delivery provider Resend, and the hosting and database providers that run this site (Vercel and Supabase), all acting as processors under contract on our instructions. Where a provider processes data outside the EU/EEA, that transfer is covered by an appropriate safeguard such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell your data and do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After that we keep your address on a short suppression list, plus the consent and withdrawal record, so that we can prove the sign-up was legitimate and can avoid accidentally emailing you again. Normally that is up to three years, matching the statutory limitation period.

Your rights

You can withdraw consent at any time, with no effect on what we sent before. Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter, or email us. You also have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To use any of them, email contact@lasaguasproductions.com. Giving your name is optional and there’s no consequence to refusing it; you are under no obligation to sign up at all.

Questions or complaints

Email contact@lasaguasproductions.com and we will sort it out with you directly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

No confirmation email

We use single opt-in: ticking the box subscribes you immediately, so please double-check the address is yours. If someone else has entered your address, click unsubscribe in the first email you receive, or email us and we’ll delete the record.
